Lots of us are getting together for “unofficial” runs using our club Facebook group which is great and we want to encourage this.
We believe there is great benefit in people of similar running ability meeting up for runs where the sustained pace is appropriate and you can work off each other in a group for continuous running. To enable more athletes/runners to have access to this type of training and in particular for those who are perhaps new to the club, we are introducing the idea of MembersRun.
This means simply that if you are planning a run, please post it on the SGR Members Facebook Group please title your post MembersRun, (or just include this word somewhere in the text), by doing this other runners can search and find your post. In this way the people will know what’s happening and can join in, if the run sounds right for them.
When posting on Facebook we recommend you say what the approximate distance and the pace will be as well as meeting location and time. This type of self-organised activity applies equally to all pace abilities, but runners must realise that they will not be led by a club coach or leader and therefore they are undertaken entirely at the runners own risk.
